Living your best life does not look the same for everyone. Not everyone is created for the same purpose. And not everyone has the same gifts and talents. And yet there are some truths or principles that I believe apply to everyone. These are principles you will find consistent and trustworthy as you attempt to create your best life on purpose.
Every best life is built around some global truths that just simply work in this universe God created. You can try to avoid these truths. You can resist them all you want. Yet, in the end, you will find they are true and effective.
I believe God the Father is the Creator of this universe. And ultimately, if you wish to build a life with eternal impact and purpose that is greater than you, you will need to acknowledge that. That is a position of humility I do not think is optional. He designed you and me to operate according to His plans. The sooner we get that the sooner our life will turn to greatness.
I believe God created us for relationship and work. Before the fall of man in the garden of Eden, God created man and woman for the sole purpose of relationship. He wanted someone to fellowship with. And He made us in His image with the capacity for relationship with each other.
And work is something He gave us to allow us to express the love of that relationship with Him and each other, just as He created a world for our enjoyment to express His love for us.
I believe sin breaks that capacity for relationship in us. When Adam and Eve said yes to evil, they handed over the capacity to love God and each other with a pure heart. We see that expressed in Adam and Eve hiding when God comes walking in the garden to commune with them. God had not yet uttered a single breath of condemnation to them. And yet they hid from Him, ashamed.
We also see that in their need for clothes to cover their nakedness. Until this point evil had not ruined their pure love. And yet as soon as they ate the forbidden fruit, they were condemned by their lust and shame.
I believe Jesus Christ came to restore those relationships. Right from the day of the fall in the garden, we find God plotting to restore our relationship with Him. And He promises that He will send somebody to redeem us.
That somebody is Jesus Christ, His only Son. He comes and gives His faultless life to die for our sins. That is the only way God could recapture the innocence we gave Satan in the garden. And when Jesus had defeated the power of sin, and paid the price of our sins, He ascended to Heaven and continues to pray for you and me.
I believe He sent His Holy Spirit to live in and through us. Not content to just have paid the price for our sins, He sent us the Holy Spirit to empower us to experience the fruit of that restored relationship in our daily life. The power of righteousness to glorify God.
And the power of love and forgiveness so we could again experience the power of that relationship with each other.
I believe He desires a blessed and fruitful life for every one of us. His very heart seeks to bless us as His children. You find that expressed throughout scriptures. He longs to bless us. He wants the absolute best for us.
That is not to say we won’t face opposition and persecution from the world around us. Evil still hates righteousness. And those who still haven’t been restored are used as pawns to bring that evil to all of us. But God’s desire towards us is that we be fruitful and blessed. That is His Father heart.
I believe we grab hold of that life through believing and praying truth over our lives. When we recognize truth, we are to grow in that truth. That truth then sets us free, and moves towards everything God intended for us.
When God makes a promise of blessing to us, our reaction should be to start praying that promise into reality. Praying that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We miss a lot of blessings because we don’t get this principle. The saints of the Scriptures got this one.
I believe our maturity of faith will build relationships and unlock blessing. When we learn to forgive as God forgives us, we restore relationship. When we love those who hate us, we restore relationship. We are also demonstrating faith that God has done so for us.
When we love God and start understanding His heart for us, we unlock the faith for great things to happen. For God things to become a reality here on earth. Faith works by love.
I believe the short cuts we try to take in this process set us back. I think often we try to short cut our path to our destiny. And that often ends up setting us back. God’s heart towards us is one of love and desire for relationship. He also desires for us to love Him the same way. And He desires for us to desire His involvement in our lives.
Most of the trials we face is that brokenness of relationship with Him. That lack of trust. And trying to short cut trust sets us back. And yet that is often the case when we try short cuts.
I believe that God has plans more incredible for you than you could possibly imagine. I also believe that a life that has begun to learn that trust in God the Father is more fulfilling than a life that has achieved many short cuts to greatness, but never known the love of our Heavenly Father.
So while I believe that God is out to bless you unimaginably here on earth, I also believe that the best life you could possibly live is one that knows true fellowship with Our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. (Okay, so that is one line of heavy theology.) All the earthly blessings you could ever experience are nothing compared to a living relationship with your Heavenly Father.
[tweetthis]You cannot separate the Gift from the Giver. To accept one is to accept the other[/tweetthis]
I also believe you cannot separate the Giver from His gift. In other words, if you are going to experience a living relationship with the Heavenly Father who calls himself Love, our Provider, the Healer, Creator, Banner, Almighty, and our Shepherd; Then you will also experience the blessing and love that His nature and character present.
He is so set on blessing you that He promises that if through persecution you are hurt or your blessing is taken from you, He will make it up to you in Heaven. Wow!
That, my friends, is the start of what I mean when I talk about living your best life. If you study the names and attributes of God as a redeemed Christian, it should build your faith up. A relationship with that kind of Father ought to motivate anyone to start living on purpose, taking hold of what you believe God wants you to do.
And as long as this post is, this is just the beginning of what it means to live your best life.
